I miss my best friend in Putnam county, Indiana.

I shall miss my best friend, Mitchell.  He taught me to know who Jesus really is and His saving Grace.  They broke the mold when he was born.   Mitchell would help anyone who asked him.  I look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

This hits me hard.  My heart goes out to the family.  I always called him grandpa.  I have been coming to the farm for years.  A lot of times on thanksgiving to visit with him.  My dad Mike and I would share stories about hunting and fishing, then I would ask if I could go outside and hunt and he would say go ahead and scare my rabbits around and laugh, his smile would fill the room.  He had tales of big deer “old iron sides” Big bass under the lily pads.  I came to Terry’s house on thanksgiving this year looking for a smile a hand shake and more jewels about life and he wasn’t home.  You will be truly missed by all.

I met you and your wife at a very young age, unsure about attending church. HOWEVER YOU BOTH MADE THAT DAY ONE I LOOKED FORWARD TO FOR MANY YEARS TO FOLLOW..  Welcoming me and my siblings into your church and home as family is something I will cherish for ever.  I will never forget the many time we heard the story of you building your house, walking into the kitchen then on into the living room WITH THAT BIG FIREPLACE is wmhow I remember it. 
Memories of the many times we would run throughout the upstairs and ask who's room is this to every room we passed seemed like such a long hallway and so many rooms back then ;)!!! I am glad as an adult you were able to meet the first 3 of my kids and they could see how wonderful you were!!! Oh how you will be missed ❤ 


As his friend for 41 years; I have so many memories stored. My first memory of Pastor Cheatham was his SMILE that filled the sanctuary of the church where I visited for the first time in 1978. Later admiring his forever love for Lois and the children. People were treated like family when they entered their home.  He had a  gentle spirit, a  genuine love for people and a desire to help others. I remember helping to make Christmas baskets for those in need at the church where I had remained after that first visit. Unbeknown to the church family; I went home with a heavy heart as our family had no means to prepare a Christmas dinner. About an hour later a knock came at the door. It was Pastor Cheatham, I believe his son Michael and some of the church family delivering me  a Christmas Blessing of food. I still feel like crying.  He went on to work with the food pantries and helping those in need the many years after. We often had long conversations when he was well. He seemed to know me even last summer when I stopped to visit him.  His sweet spirit and the brightness of his smile remained the same. He and his character will forever be imprinted in my heart and mind. I am blessed and a better person for knowing him. RIP my DEAR FRIEND and Rejoice in Your Reward.


Great Pastor and loved to hear him preach.  When he came off the alter and looked at you and made u feel very blessed.  I've misseds his preaching for some time. 

I was just thinking about those fishing trips. Wanted to see how  he was doing. Then I heard Dear Mitch was not well. See you my friend if I make it into the kingdom. May we fish together again with golden hooks. So sorry for everyone's loss. 


I never got a chance to meet you and thank you for the sweet loving daughter whom became my sister-in-law. We love her very much.  I thank you.

You rest in heaven, you earned your wings.

Mitch is one of the finest men that I have ever known. He was always full of God, Wisdom, and Joy. Mitch married several of my children. He was always there to help and inspire. My whole family loves him and will never forget him. God has received a special Soul and I hope that I will be greeted by him when I arrive at the Gate. You have now found peace but I know you will not rest, there are far too many Glorious things to see. If only I could see through your eyes now. See ya soon old friend.

Oh were do I even start? You were very important in my family’s life. You married my Mom  Judy and Carl, you married my sister,  and you also married Kenny and I, 
My Mom and little brother Charlie lived at the old school in Brazil for a while. My girls played with your grandchildren you and my Mom were good friends.  You were the kindest most loving person I have ever known. You treated everyone you ever met like they were your family. I will miss you every day of my life. You were a great, great man who will never ever be able to be replaced.

Uncle Mitch was my friend and father, his heart and home was always warm and open to all whom he met. A big SMILE and kind words of Godly wisd.om
