Philip was born in Graysville, Indiana on January 12, 1930, the son of Frank and Beulah (Raines) Badger, and was a graduate of Graysville High School. Rev. Badger earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Butler University and his Master’s Degree in Criminology from Indiana State University.
Rev. Badger pastored for over 30 years at Reelsville United Methodist Church and worked as a Chaplin and in administration at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Freda Badger; a daughter, Sondra Bowen, (husband-Howard), Greencastle; a sister, Eunice Hanthorn, Watertown, South Dakota; two grandsons, Christopher Bowen, (wife-Sara), Rosedale, and Seth Bowen, (wife-Nikki), Oberlin, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren, Pearl, Oliver, Evie, Ayden, Kinsley, Abel, and Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and one brother.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Reelsville United Methodist Church, 7114 S County Road 635 W, Reelsville, Indiana 46171. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. And also one hour prior to time of service at the church on Thursday. Burial will follow in Merom Cemetery in Merom, Indiana.
