Willa Rose Newgent, 81 of Greencastle passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.
Willa was born in Greencastle on June 18, 1939, the daughter of James F. and Willa R. (Worrell) Green, and was a 1957 graduate of Greencastle High School.
Mrs. Newgent was a member of Greencastle Christian Church. She served as a Girl Scout Leader for 12 years and a Cub Scout leader for 3 years. Willa worked for 16 years at Putnam County Hospital in Central Sterile.
Survivors include her son, William F. Newgent; a daughter, Rose Marie Newgent Morge, (Scott); a caregiver, Tammy Newgent; three sisters, Jane Hanson, Mary Oatess Grau, (Richard), and Freida West, (Jon); a brother, Fredrick Green; a sister-in-law, Joyce Green; five grandchildren, Jonathan Newgent, (Hannah), Nicole Newgent, Abby Morge, Gracie Morge Braun, (James) and A. J. Morge; two great-grandchildren, John Michael Morge, and Theodore Colton Braun; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, John Newgent; and a brother James Green.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. or one hour prior to time of service on Tuesday.
In Leu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Greencastle Christian Church.
