Alison was born on April 21, 1977, in Burlington, NC. Growing up in Cary, she graduated from Apex High School in 1995, and UNC-G in 1999, with a Graphic Arts degree. She taught technology at Claxton Elementary School in Greensboro and adored her students. Alison was blessed with many God-given talents. She was a pastry chef and a phenomenal cook; she was a jewelry designer, craft artisan, song writer and recording artist, and a well-known face painter. Of all of the joys in her life, Alison's greatest passion was singing. She began singing in children's choir and later youth choir in her church. She loved singing in the chorus at school. She was truly most at home on the stage and in front of an audience. As the lead singer of their band, Serendipity, she and husband Jeremy performed at many venues throughout the state and recorded several albums.
Alison loved life and her smile was contagious. She had a bright, positive outlook on life and loved to bring joy to others. She enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe, Aruba, and cruising to the Caribbean six times.
Alison is preceded in death by her grandparents, Gene and Lyle Baker and Frances and Joe Perkins. Those left to cherish her memory are her adoring husband, Jeremy Wood; parents, Ann and Joe Perkins of Cary, NC; sister, Jennifer and husband Troy Kranz and nephew Elliot of Cary, NC; Aunt, Jeanne Perkins of Greensboro; and Uncles, Bob Baker and Bill Baker of Charlotte, NC. Alison is loved and will be missed by many friends, family members, co-workers, students, and her cherished little dog, Piglet.
