Ambrose "Ac" Johnson

Ambrose “AC” Johnson, 74, went to be with the Lord, Feb. 7, 2012. He was born in Wilkes County on April 20, 1937 to Silas Solomon and Lona Coleman Johnson. He leaves behind brothers: Smith, Sam and Perk (I.M.) Johnson and sisters: Ann Thompson, Julia Teeters and Dottie Carruthers.

Ambrose was a loving husband of 54 years to Rachel Kinney Johnson. His children, Tim (Bonnie), Jeff (Mary), Mark (Emily), Ben, and Amy (Campbell) Johnson were blessed to have such a loving and wonderful father who adored them all. He was the proud grandfather of Silas (Katy), Trey, Heather (Estevan), Hunter, Samuel, Takoda and Cooper, and had several great-nephews and great-nieces who also called him “papaw”.

AC was a friend of all and father to many. He coached Pop Warner football through the O’Henry Lions Club for 14 years. He retired from Western Electric/Bell Atlantic after 31 years of service. He loved gardening and was often seen working in his yard. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed having his family together for Sunday dinners.

Visitation at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel 6pm-8pm, Friday, Feb. 10. Funeral at Lankford Memorial Baptist Church 2pm, Saturday, February 11, followed by internment at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be sent to Lankford Memorial Baptist Church, 3708 Yanceyville St., Greensboro, NC 27405.
