

Mrs. Anne M. McNeill, 83, a resident of the Whitestone Masonic Home died Saturday August 28, 2010 at her residence. She was born June 1, 1927 in Richmond, Virginia to Eldridge and Mabel Davis. Anne was a graduate of Greensboro High School. She was a former member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church where she was an assistant pre-school teacher and a member of the chancel choir. She currently was a member of Christ Wesleyan Church . Anne was a member of the Wesley Long Hospital Auxillary for 25 years. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines choral group. She served on several committees at the Whitestone Masonic Home where she resided for the past 15 years. She was an excellent seamstress and tailor.
In 1945 she was married to James W. McNeill who preceded her in death on July 20, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty Davis Ralph and a brother, Eldridge Davis, Jr.
Surviving are one daughter, Marsie McNeill Rowan of Cincinnati, Ohio; her brother, Frank Davis and wife Joan of Greensboro; sisters-in-law, Anna Parker and husband Ray of Charlotte, Amelia Loman of Greensboro; six nephews and one niece. Also surviving are Mike and Sue Renn and their daughters, Meagan Hunt and Caroline Renn who she also considered her family.
A service to celebrate Anne’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Whitestone Masonic Home Chapel conducted by the Reverend Tommy Jones and Reverend Jonathan Lewis. A private family inurnment service will be held at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family would like to express special thanks to Carroll and Anne Davis, Carol Parke, Ruth Strider and Jo Weathers for the love and care given to Anne. To Dr. Bruce Brodie, Dr. Dora Brodie, Dr. Lew Iacovelli, Dr. James Granfortuna, Dr. Hal Stoneking and Dr. Vineet Sood: you were not only Anne’s doctors, she thought of you as special friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Elevator Fund at Christ Wesleyan Church, 2400 South Holden Road, Greensboro, NC 27407.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Rotunda at Whitestone Masonic Home.
