

Anthony Clark Bartholomew died on Tuesday, August 31, 2022. He was born on April 12, 1938 in Chattanooga Tennessee to Charles Marvin Bartholomew and Martha Ann Robinson Bartholomew. He is survived by his life partner, Dr. Alice Beverley Gass and one sister, Joyce Dean Bartholomew Morgan and brother-in-law, Ronald Frank Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by Beverley’s family including her sister Deanna Sue Gass Mays and husband William Troy Mays of Wilmington, Delaware and her many nephews and nieces and great nephews and great nieces. Anthony attended McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee graduating in 1956. He graduated from the University of Chattanooga with a BS Degree in Economics and Business Administration in 1961. He was a member of the Golden M Society of McCallie and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. His career began with the Southwestern Company of Nashville, Tennessee in 1962 for whom he sold religious books and then the Varsity Company in Chattanooga. He joined Hibbard, O’Conner and Weeks, an investment banking firm, and then Consultants, Inc. both of New York City. He was a management consultant with A.T. Oxford of Locust Valley, New York. In 1973, Anthony moved to Greensboro and began his real estate investment business. Anthony was an extrovert, gregarious, curious and would have been a great history teacher. He was interested in all those he encountered in his life quizzing them about where they came from and teaching them about things he thought they should know. His last car was a vintage 1979 Pontiac Bonneville that he never wanted to let go. He was very knowledgeable about the Civil War and World War II. Anthony attended meetings of the coin collectors club in Greensboro. He loved life and the two dachshunds that he and Beverley shared and simply being at home. He will be buried at Green Hill Cemetery and his life will celebrated by friends and family on Saturday, October 1, from 2 - 4 pm at his home at 2104 Rolling Road.
