

Billie Anne Williams Routh, age 76, of Greensboro, died July 21 after a recent reoccurrence of melanoma cancer. Billie was born April 8, 1936 in Guilford County, daughter of Willie Randolph and Mary Curl Williams.
Billie was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing in 1958 with a BSN, and obtained a masters degree in Adult Education from NC A&T State University in 1986. She served the greater Triad community in many nursing capacities, including staff nurse, public health nurse, hospice nurse, and flight nurse. She retired after 25 years as Director of Continuing Education at Thomasville Community General Hospital.
Billie was an avid volunteer with the MS Society. She and her husband rode a tandem bicycle in the MS Tour de Tanglewood 16 years and raised over $50,000.
Billie is survived by her husband, William Eugene (Bill) Routh, Sr., and children William Eugene (Chuck) Routh, Jr. and wife Susie, Marianne Routh Cimino and husband Tom, Lisa Routh Way, and Renee Routh Kennedy and husband Art, and nine grandchildren, Leslie Routh Nichols (Zack), Sara Beth Routh, Kevin Cimino, Will Cimino, Chris Cimino, Jacquelin Way Leech (Jonathan), Sean Way, Taylor Kennedy, and Connor Kennedy, and her twin sister, Mary Ben Stroupe.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 27, at 3:00 p.m. at Alamance Presbyterian Church, 4000 Presbyterian Road, Greensboro, NC. The services will be performed by Reverend Dr. Shelly Wilson of High Country United Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
