

Billy Clifford McAmis, 89, a resident of Greensboro, passed away on Thursday June 15, 2023 at the Hospice Home of High Point. He was born July 17, 1933 in Tazewell, Virginia, the son of the late George Clifford McAmis and Ruby Agnes Mundy McAmis.
Bill graduated from Greenbrier Military Academy, Kings School of Business in Tennessee, and East Tennessee State University. He worked at Pilot Life Insurance Company/Lincoln Financial for 33 years before retiring as a Claims Manager/VP. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
He was married to Delphine Wall McAmis for 40 years, who preceded him in death. His brother, Robert McAmis, and sister, Doris Lord, brothers-in-law, Jim Lord and Jim McCollum, also preceded him in death.
Bill is survived by daughters, Kathy Sakats and husband Steve of Lockport, IL; Pam Harrell and husband Greg of Reidsville; son, Brad McAmis and wife Pam of Greensboro; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and Kathy Bowen, his life partner for over 25 years, of Greensboro.
His encouraging words, sense of humor and love for his family will be greatly missed!
Funeral services will be held on Friday June 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend C. Randall Collins, Sr. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
