

A funeral service will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel by Rev. Brad Gaines and Rev. James F. Hayden, Sr. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens.
Bonnie was born February 14, 1933 in Yadkin Co.,Forbush, NC, the daughter of George Anderson Cornelison and Geneva Davis Cornelison.
As a child, Bonnie attended Farmington Baptist Church. She asked Jesus into her heart at the age of 12, and talked fondly of preacher Shore decades later. She also attended Farmington High School in Forbush where she loved playing on the girl’s basketball team and was co-captain at one point. As an adult, Bonnie was a member of Northern Guilford Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, gardening, Christmas ornaments and plants and hanging baskets. She worked at Lorrilard Tobacco Co., an ice cream cone factory and a hosiery mill. She was a caregiver to children and the sick.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Durant Lewis, Sr. in 1985 and her daughter, Betty Rose Lewis Graham in 1988.
Surviving are her dearly loved son, Marvin “Marty” Durant Lewis, Jr. of Greensboro; sister, Peggy Jean Cornelison Waller and husband Lawrence of Greensboro.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
