Brad Krantz

Brad Krantz, loving father, husband, and local radio broadcaster, passed peacefully on May 6th, 2025 after an 18-month battle with myelofibrosis, a rare type of bone marrow cancer, surrounded by his family. He was 69 years old.

Brad was born October 23rd, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio to Ruth and Al Krantz. He was a proud alum of The Ohio State University, where he began his career as a disc jockey on college radio. After graduating, he would move on to stations in major markets like New York City, DC, and Boston. His signature voice won many admirers across the airwaves, including his wife and biggest fan Jane, who met him while he was on the air in New York. They later settled in Greensboro, where they had two children and Brad became the voice of Rock 92’s morning show for nearly a decade.

He then moved to talk radio, bringing his talents to WBT in Charlotte and later to 101.1 WZTK where the beloved Brad and Britt Show was born. The Brad and Britt Show moved to podcast form in 2014 and continued even as Brad underwent treatment, with their last episode in February 2025.

Brad will be remembered for his humor and wit, always finding the right opportunity to make his audience, friends, or family laugh even in the most serious circumstances. His pranks and April Fool’s jokes became a staple for his coworkers and listeners across the airwaves. At home, his impressions and characters were (almost) always a hit.

Brad was never afraid to voice his opinion and constantly took aim at conservative politicians and policies. A fearless critic, Brad was often the lone liberal voice in North Carolina talk radio, welcoming healthy debate and controversy with his peers and sometimes radio station management.

In his personal life he kept many rich and long-lasting friendships, including those from Camp Roosevelt where he spent many summers as a camper and counselor and from his stints across various radio stations in the US.

He is survived by his wife Jane, his two daughters Daphne and Stephanie, and his two brothers Mark and Mitch.

In lieu of flowers, Brad would have preferred you make a donation to either the MPN Research Foundation for myelofibrosis research, or the ACLU to protect American democracy from the stupid orange guy.
