Camilla Thomas Travis, 75, passed away at home into the arms of her Heavenly Father early Wednesday morning, February 9th. Camilla was a strong and kind woman who always had a smile for others and laughter to share. She had a beautiful heart and sweet soul, was always there to listen and support, and made long-lasting friends everywhere she went. Camilla held various positions in office management and was a smiling face who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was talented and loving, and enjoyed arts and crafts, country-style cooking, long nights of playing cards, but most of all, quality time with her family, especially her granddaughter Brittany, who she nicknamed her “Angel”. She was well known for being a dedicated wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. A longtime resident of the NC Triad, Camilla was greeted in Heaven by her beloved husband of 40 years, Douglas MacArthur Travis. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Hill and Morris Thomas. She is survived by her son Michael (Kimberly) of Archdale, daughter Karen Travis of Jamestown, four grandchildren, Brittany, Phoebie, Madison (Montana) Jameson, and Caleb; her brothers Morris “Wayne” (Alice) Thomas and Ernest “Ernie” Thomas, and countless loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Her love and energy will be immensely missed by all who were blessed to know her. Camilla’s faith in Christ was apparent to her last breath. We can think of no soul more worthy to be in Heaven than this precious lady. We can only imagine the reunion and celebration that took place as she crossed over.
Camilla never liked being the center of attention. In respect of her wishes there will be no public viewing or memorial services. Karen and Brittany will receive visitation at the home on Saturday February 12th from 4-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 9, 2022. Karen and Brittany wish to thank Dr. Gary Sherrill and
Lisa Thomas, NP at the Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long, as well as the caring hospice staff at AuthoraCare of Greensboro who provided guidance, compassion, and support during Camilla’s last months at home.
