Carol Dillon Howard (affectionately known as “Mawzy”) passed away March 18th, 2023, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 18th, 1937 in Elizabeth, NJ. Her family eventually moved to Greensboro, NC where she graduated from Greensboro High School. Carol attended the University of Virginia, where she proudly protested for coed education. After retirement, she loved travelling in their RV with her husband, dog, Bogart, and grandchildren. They visited all 50 states and travelled to six continents. She took pleasure in reading, playing Bridge, Mahjong, and Scrabble. She enjoyed going to church and attending bible study. She also served on multiple committees at Friends Home West.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Adrienne Hodges and Thomas Dillon. She is survived by her husband, James G. Howard; her three daughters Sharon Camras (Tom); Polly Purgason (Christy); Tracy Moore (John); her brother, Tad Dillon (Marti); two stepsons, Phillip Howard; Dwight Howard (Requel); and six grandchildren (Benjamin, Allison (Tim), Adrienne (Austin), Efrain, Jenna, and Luke).
She was a force to be reckoned with, and had a wicked sense of humor. She was beloved by all and will be sorely missed.
