Carolyn Gaulden Mortensen

A funeral service will be held Monday, 12:00 noon, at Northside Baptist Church in Greensboro. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Carolyn was born June 4, 1939 in Greensboro, the daughter of James Alfred Gaulden and Grace Ledbetter Gaulden.

Carolyn was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church where her passion was the nursery. It has been said that she held every newborn that ever went to Northside. As a soft, gentle, loving person, this was a natural fit for Carolyn. Carolyn retired from Highland Yarn Mills in High Point and enjoyed bowling. Most of all Carolyn especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and will be missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman R. Mortensen.

Surviving are her children, Vicki O’Hearn (Patrick), Daren Mortensen (Andra), Susan Barnett and Timothy Mortensen (Jane), all of Kernersville; grandchildren, Dewayne and Michael Hedrick, Christina Womack, Nicole Barnett, Jessica Sitton and Kelly Mortensen; great grandchildren, Hannah Hedrick, Tessa Taylor, Ian Womack, Haylynn Branch, Nora and Claire Womack.

Friends will be received Sunday, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the church
