Carroll was born February 17, 1937, in Wingate, the son of Bryce and Clara Edwards Thomas.
Carroll was the VP of Cooper International working alongside his good friend of many years, John Cooper. Carroll stayed in the textile business selling machinery parts as owner of C.B. Thomas Company. He was deacon at Guilford Baptist Church that he and his wife, Shirley attended for many years. He also enjoyed singing in the church choir. He will be remembered for his hard work and dedication to the textile industry. You could always count on Carroll for a corny joke, enjoying the laughter to follow. Carroll enjoyed watching Andy Griffith and spending time with his family.
Carroll was survived by his wife, Shirley, children, David Thomas of Davidson, Chris Thomas of Winterville, Kathy Chapman of Monroe and Emily McArthur (Mike) of Mint Hill, three stepchildren, fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
