

She was born in Guilford County, North Carolina on November 19, 1937 a daughter to the late Eugene Elwood Johnson and Maude Montgomery Johnson. She graduated from Gibsonville High School and Women’s College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Following college, she worked at various secretarial positions and lastly with Samuel Isley, CPA in Burlington prior to her retirement. She was married to Howard S. Blackwell who preceded her in death on March 14, 2019.
Surviving are son, Steve Blackwell and wife Melissa of Oak Ridge, NC; granddaughters, Alyssa Blackwell of Greenville, NC and Lauren Blackwell of Oak Ridge, NC; grandson, Bryan Blackwell of Oak Ridge, NC.
A Celebration of Life Service is being planned and will be announced for early June to celebrate both the life of Clarice and Howard.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Camden Place where Clarice had resided for the last two years for their compassion and exceptional care. Also to “the girls” that she use to have lunch and fellowship with on occasion for your thoughts, cards and prayers over the last years.
