May the works I've done speak for me. When I'm resting in my grave, there's nothing more to be said; may the works I've done speak for me. Clifford Barr Jr. died February 13, 2019 and will be remembered during a memorial mass at 11 AM, February 18, at St. Pius X Catholic Church officiated by Father Louie Canino and Monsignor Anthony Marcaccio. The family will receive friends following the service in the Simmons Center.
Clifford was born in Williamsburg, SC one of thirteen children into the large and loving family of Clifford and Sarah Cooper Barr. He graduated from St. Mark High School where he met his sweetheart of 56 years, Eunice Green. They moved to New York where Clifford first worked in the fashion industry and then the NYC Transit Authority from which he retired after 26 years. His work with the Transit Authority was the perfect fit for Clifford as he was a people person. He met people from all walks of life who shared their stories and knew they could count on Clifford for an attentive ear and friendly greeting. The success of his family and community were important to him; he worked and served both enthusiastically. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was an active member of St. Peter Claver Church in Brooklyn, NY; Sacred Heart Parish in Cambria Heights, Queens and St Pius X Catholic Church in Greensboro. Clifford will be remembered for his interest and enjoyment of fishing, basketball, football, volunteer coaching, music, dancing, and gardening. People were drawn to him because he had a gift for listening, conversation and a compassionate spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eunice Barr; daughter, Lisa Barr of Brooklyn, NY; son, Bryant Barr and wife Nichelle of Burlington; grandchildren, Bryant Jr., Casey and Briana Barr and Taneah, Jada and Lucy Lightsey; siblings, Sarah Gaines, RoseLee Tisdale, Ruth Alston, Ethel McCrea, Geneva Paulk, Jonathan Barr; adopted children Georgette and Chris Fambin; and a beautiful extended family of nieces and nephews.
