You have my thoughts and prayers to Dale Metz's wife Susan and family through this difficult time. 
He touched many lives always in positive ways. I taught under his tolerant guidance and found him to be one of the best principals in Greensboro. His patience was ever enduring under difficult times. Dale was a role model for students as well as teachers.
I  laughed with others at his Sydney Porter portrayal roles at the Museum. He was a man of many talents. 
May you remember the laughter and happy memories.

Dear Sue, Jessica, and Aaron,
We're all heartbroken and I still cannot believe that Dale is not among us anymore. I'm truly sorry for the loss. We lost an extraordinary man, husband, father, and grandfather whose dedication touched and changed so many lives for the better. His caring actions, under whatever circumstances, speaks volumes of one of the greatest but most humble people I have been blessed to know of and call my friend. I can't believe Dale that you're not going to call or text anymore to check on me and my kids, or to cheer me up. Your joyful spirit will be missed by many but will live on together with your legacy in the hearts of generations to come. I'll cherish the memories we shared forever from the moment you recruited and brought me as a special education teacher to Gateway through my wedding to the baby showers and beyond. I'll always be grateful to you Dale and to you Sue for opening your hearts and home when I knew no one in Greensboro. You both have been there for me at every step of the way for the last 18 years and feel honored to have you on my side and that I've been able to share some of the happiest moments of my life with you. To the Metz family...I was reading another obituary when I saw this one for Mr. Metz.  First of all, I am truly sorry for your loss.   I had a Summer School Teacher at Grimsley High School back in the mid 70's named Mr. Metz.   He was such a caring math teacher.  He was always very patient with me.   I have never forgotten his kindness.  

While I'm not sure if this Mr. Metz is the same person, he definitely favors him in the pictures that have been shared here.  If this is NOT the same person, I apologize but I do send my condolences to this family as well.

Mr. Metz made every student feel like they were capable of learning math and his support gave you the will to try  so you could prove to yourself you COULD do it!  

He was an awesome man and I have no doubt he will be missed terribly.  Please know your family will be in my prayers in the days, weeks and months ahead.  Praying God fills you with His peace, surrounds you with His love and gives you His grace on the most difficult of days.

Best boss ever! You were my Mom’s (Pat Ferry) boss in the flesh and mine in spirit! You always knew how to make me laugh and I will never forget that! We will never forget your kindness towards our family and many other families. You were and always will be dearly loved by all of the many lives you have touched throughout your life! I extend my condolence to the Dale Metz's family. As I reflect on his life I recall two things: the value of laughter and his being an exceptional advocate for special needs children and their parents.

A dear friend and role model will be greatly missed, but Dale's spirit of loving, caring, and laughing is eternal.  

I know how much Dale loved everyone, because that is who is he.  Always helping, loving others. His heart and smile were for all. He will be shining his light in heaven, .  It is a blessing to know him.
To know him is to love him.  He will always be around  !!  Miss ya Bud! know you are loved.

It sadden our hearts to hear of Dale’s passing. He was an inspiration to all. Truly a unique,  caring individual with a heart of gold. I was truly blessed to work with him at Gateway. He will surely be MISSED. Our condolences to Sue and family.

I will always remember Dale’s positive demeanor, wonderful sense of humor, and kind wit.  It was an honor to have known Dale as a professional peer.  He always lent a helpful hand in times of need and was a sincere listener.  Dale was a pioneer in the field of serving children with unique life challenges.  He was hero educator to so many. Tanya and I are holding Dale and his family in the Light.  

Dale was a wonderful man. He hired me right at 30 years ago at Gateway. Dale loved Gateway  & the Children. He spent endless hours and dedication to Gateway even long after he was no longer here. Dale Loved people, I don't think he ever came across stranger. Dale would help anyone that heeded help, he never gave up on someone or something. I can not begin to say how much Dale will be missed. RIP you will always be remembered.

What a wonderful man. He was there when my daughter Alaina started. He made sure those kids and young adults got what they needed. He was a great Santa. We love him and will miss him. My condolences to the family 

I was lucky enough to have had so many special needs children have Dale as their principal.  He always focused on meeting the student’s needs, and celebrating their strengths and achievements.   The world needs many more people like Dale.  Not less.

Rest in peace, dear cousin.  Edwin and I shall miss you. We send our most sincere condolences to Sue and family.

My heartfelt prayers for Dale's family.  

He was truly a wonderful man.  My daughter went to Gateway and I was always amazed at how he remembered every child's name. How he took the time with the families and children to get to know them.  My family and I will always be grateful for all he did for Gateway and the community.
