
He leaves behind Jean, his wife of 31 years & joins Kenny, beloved son from a former marriage, who died in 1995. Also bereaved are Kenny’s sister, Michele Olsen of Walton, NY. His 4 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren include Chris Eisele & children, Matthew, Lilly, Bella & Jaydon; Danny Eisele, wife Sarah & children, John & Gabriella; granddaughter Allison Rigas, husband Robbie & newborn son, Finn, & granddaughter Katy Hodges, husband Brad & 1 year old Carter. Dave will also be sorely missed by wife Jean’s 6 children & their families: Anne Luck, husband Bud, daughter Alyssa & son Adam; Dan Hellkamp & son Dan Jr.; Gary Hellkamp, wife Dee, her daughters Amanda & Megan, & Megan’s newborn daughter, Mackenzie; John Hellkamp, daughter Sarah, son Max & their mother, Kim; Eric Hellkamp, wife Jennifer, daughter Kate & son Drew; Matt Hellkamp, wife Maria, Matt’s children, Sarah, Anna & Christopher, & Maria’s children, Kyle & Cristina; Brandon Hellkamp, son of Jean’s deceased son Bruce, & baby Aiden; Sean Hellkamp, wife Melanie & 5 year old Nathan.
Dave was a military veteran, serving 2 years in the US Army from November, 1951 to October, 1953. He was always a natural athlete, winning the Fort Lauderdale, FL city tennis championship for his age division in 1980 & 1981.
Besides his primary roles as devoted father, grandfather & loving husband, he was a quiet but faithful friend & involved citizen, serving as “Court Captain” for a time, & participating & assisting in community activities as needed.
He was an entrepreneur/hair stylist for many years, with his own shop on Ft. Lauderdale beach. Following his mid-90’s retirement, Dave pursued his all-consuming interest in psychology & psychotherapy from a Christian perspective, earning certification as a Clinical Psychotherapist & Addictions Counselor. He was a member of CAPS (“Christian Association for Psychological Studies”) & a serious scholar, devoting hours daily to reading & writing about the theology, process & superior outcomes of Spirit-based psychotherapy.
Dave’s life-celebration service will be held on Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 at 11:30 AM at the Battle Forest community clubhouse located at 3216 Regents Park Lane in Greensboro.
