Funeral services to celebrate Dennis’s life will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel in Greensboro.
Dennis was born in Guilford County on November 19, 1965. He was a member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ and loved his church family. He graduated from Smith High School and worked as a press foreman for nearly 25 years at Essentra. Dennis was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a die-hard Ford man and a talented wood worker. Dennis enjoyed making special gifts for family and friends. He loved all sports, especially racing and golf. He received much enjoyment from the many camping trips, especially those camping trips to the beach where there were always lots of laughs, great food and many exciting golf cart rides. Dennis took pride in his home, always working in the yard, and constantly cleaning on something. He welcomed everyone and loved grilling meals for all to enjoy. Dennis most especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing, attending games, and just letting them fix his “hair”. He was one of a kind who will always be remembered in the hearts of his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, John Foster McGee and his in-laws, Dizz and Doris Reece.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Reece McGee of Pleasant Garden; his mother, Margaret “Maggie” Pendry McGee of Randleman; his son, Dennis Christopher McGee (Shelby) of Randleman; step-daughters, Melanie Atkins Robb (Ritchie) of Liberty and Kimberly Atkins Ward (Brandon) of Liberty; step-mother, Henrietta McGee; brothers, Mark McGee (Wanda) and Randy McGee (Missy); his special nephews; grandchildren, Parker and Emily Robb, Kenzie and Myles McGee, and Brantley and Kaden Ward; and other extended family and friends.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Dennis’s best friends, Mark Isley and Donnie Nance for all of their help they provided during his battle with cancer. Also they wish to thank Wesley Long Cancer Center for their exceptional care.
