Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro, with Chaplain Chris Morris officiating. Mr. Stone will be entombed immediately following the funeral service in the cemetery mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
Born in Davidson County on October 3, 1925 to the late Belvin and Ethel Stone, Donald was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the World War II, proudly serving in the United States Navy. He received his bachelor degree from High Point University and worked as a supervisor with the Internal Revenue Service. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Willis Stone; and eight siblings, Mildred Pender, Frances Couthure, Darr Peacock, Rebecca Cannon, Irene Walker, Ralph M. Stone, James Stone and Charles E. Stone.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Darrell Evans Stone (Lori) of High Point; grandson, Daniel Stone (Mandy); step-grandchildren, Taylor and Ashton McGhee; brother, Joe C. Stone (Lynda); and other extended family and friends.
