

Services to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, June 4th, 12:00 noon at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Pastor David Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
Doris was born in Tifton, Georgia on August 8, 1923 to the late B.E. Jordon and Bertha Worley Jordon. She graduated from Tifton High School in 1940. Doris loved the Lord with al her heart and prayed for anyone that had a need or ask her to pray for them. She did not complain and always had something good to say about everyone.
In 1985, Doris retired from Sears Roebuck after 28 years. Before moving back to Greensboro in 2000, she was a member of Fairfield United Methodist Church. In 2005, she joined Calvary Church. As long as she was able, she went to church, shopped and ate out. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great, grandmother. She deeply loved her family.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leon D. Owen; grandson, Derrick James; brother, Edward Jordon of Tifton, GA and sister, Elljean Jordon Hendry and brother-in-law Sam Hendry of Warner Robins, GA; son-in-law, Joe Lewis and granddaughter’s husband, Greg Loyd. Surviving are her daughters; Diane Owen Lewis, Jean Owen Heinz and husband Dan L. Heinz, all of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Kimberly James Loyd, Stephanie James Portaro, Heather James and Jennifer Danielle Heinz; great grandchildren, Gregory Loyd an wife Stephanie Matson Loyd, Michele Loyd, Rachel James, Hannah James and Chase Portaro; two great great grandchildren, Azton Loyd and Autumn Anthony Loyd; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Jordan of Tifton, GA and Polly Scott of High Pont, NC.
