

Dustin “Dusty” Ray Allinger, 43, passed away on June 6, 2023 at his home in Greensboro, North Carolina due to complications from advanced metastatic uveal melanoma, as he slept with his wife by his side.
Dusty was born in Elkhart, Indiana to Richard Allinger and Tracy Watts on May 3, 1980. Dusty married Andrea Logan on February 7, 2006, and throughout their 17 year marriage, they were blessed with three children.
Dusty served in the Army as an Aviation Operations Specialist and continued into aviation during civilian life, working at many airports, including: San Antonio International Airport, managing the San Luis Valley Airport, and ending with the San Bernardino International Airport. Dusty loved leading from the front and was loved by many.
Dusty excelled at volunteering with youth, especially with foster children and coaching baseball. His big heart and infectious smile led him to bring joy wherever he went. As a papa, Dusty loved hiking, playing catch, fishing and attending symphony concerts with his kids. He could often be found on a run, working in his garage, or dating his wife.
Dusty is survived by his wife, Andrea Allinger, and their three children: Oasis, Owen, and Orion Allinger.
In lieu of flowers or dinners, the Allinger family would love donations to A Cure in Sight in the hopes that other families who experience ocular melanoma do not experience loss in the future. Currently, ocular melanoma that metastases is incurable. Dusty spent years participating in clinical trials in order to further the science and find a cure.
