

Mrs. Edith Cochran Allison, 81, a resident of Jamestown passed away Wednesday September 10, 2014. Mrs. Allison was born March 4, 1933 in Reidsville the daughter of John Hillard and Annie May Strickland Cochran. She worked in the cafeteria at Jamestown Middle School until her retirement. Edith was a one of a kind person who always put others before herself. She enjoyed cooking and being a wife, mother and grandmother. Edith loved her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Johnny Carruthers Allison, Jr., sisters, Denora Cochran, Rosalee Shamlee, Irene Witty, Virginia Cochran, Pearl Hodges and her brothers, James C., Paul and Johnny Cochran.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Johnny Carruthers Allison, Sr. of the home; her daughter, June Allison-Thacker of Durham; four grandchildren, Jason Ryan Thacker and wife Tara Michelle Hughey of Columbia, SC, John Alexander Thacker and wife Varisa Huangyutitham of Columbia, MD, Corinne Allison Kersh and husband Cory of Acworth, GA, Rachel Allison of Woodstock, GA and three great grandchildren, Sophia Claire, Layla J and Olivia Quinn Kersh.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Sammy Allison. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
