great-grandfather and friend to so many, passed away
10/01/2022 at the age of 98 after a life well-lived.
Frank was born on January 14, 1924 to the late Anthony and
Margaret Kosalko Alleva in Yonkers, NY where he was
raised with his eight siblings. Frank served in the Army Air
Force during WWII overseas in the cryptographic unit from
1941-1945. He was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific and the
Philippines, and received multiple awards for his efforts
during the war.
Frank married Helen Audrey Evans of Stokesdale, NC on
December 13, 1947, and they celebrated nearly 70 years of
marriage. They settled and raised their family in
Greensboro, NC. Frank started his career as a lineman for
Bellsouth telecommunications and ended his 30 years in
sales with the company. After retiring from Bellsouth, he
ventured into real estate. Frank enjoyed a passion for
painting in oils and watercolors as an accomplished artist,
and enjoyed physical fitness, including swimming daily.
He loved being a dad and still had lots of energy to take his
family on trips and play with his grandchildren well into his
90’s. He was playfully known to his great-grandson Alex as
“the legend.”
Frank was predeceased by his wife Audrey; four sisters,
Irene Alleva, Rose Robbins, Elizabeth Smith, and Margaret
Fitzgerald and four brothers, Edward, Joseph, Anthony, and
Leon Alleva. He is survived by his son, Frank G. Alleva, Jr.
of Folsom, CA, two daughters, Cathy (Steve) Cowhig of
Greensboro, NC, Donna (Eric) Nicholson of Acworth, GA.
Also, twelve grandchildren: Anthony, Christy, Mike, Brian,
Stacie, Drew, David, Joey, and Lee who adored their “Papa.”
A private graveside service will be held to celebrate his life
at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
