A celebration of his life will be held on his birthday, Sunday, February 16, 2025, 3:00 p.m., in the Lineberry Center at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
Gary was born February 16, 1953, in Pleasant Garden, the son of John “JR” and Margaret Richardson Fields.
Gary retired from Cone Mills after 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening but especially spending time with his family and grandkids. Gary will be remembered for his “Sam Elliott voice” and his sharp, witty sense of humor. He enjoyed the proximity of his family, all located around the family farm. He will be missed.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Dewey Richardson and Jackie Brewer.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Susan McKinney Richardson; sons, Bryan Richardson (Heather) and Jeremy Richardson (Hallie) all of Greensboro; brothers, Kenny Fields (Rita) and Randy Fields (Tammy) all of Greensboro, and Daniel Richardson of Pleasant Garden; sisters, Sandra Fields of Myrtle Beach, SC and Sue Draper and Debra Fields, both of Greensboro; grandchildren, Charity, Kaitlyn, Carson, Corey, Zoey and Aiden.
The family asks with gratitude that memorials in Gary’s name be made to Medi Home Health Agency, 1007 Lexington Ave., Greensboro, NC 27360.
