Hello children - we, Lemons, lived across the street from Ken and Janice many yrs ago.    I saw Ken once at J & S.   So sorry to hear that he has died - we send our sympathy to you.

When my Daddy, Robert Kirk, took radiation for his lung cancer,  Uncle  Ken came by his house and brought Arbys Sandwiches.   they told tales and stories.  
Now Mother, Betty Kirk, is Westchester Harbor, Dementia Unit and he  visited her several times.  
It was a blessing to know Kenneth Kirk as my cousin, and I am  that Daddy amd Kenneth are together again, in Heaven.

Kathie and family I was a classmate of Ken at Gary High School. He was a fine person and a great friend. Class mates asked for his obituary and I did place it on Facebook for them to read. I hope this was OK. They were very sorry to hear of his passing. May God Bless each one of your during this time of sorrow.

I'm my daddy's number 1 child, I know he was gleaming with pride on the day of my birth. He's always been there for my family and I, if I needed anything he was there with open arms. When I needed advise he gave me great wisdom and love. I enjoyed our time together in person and on the phone when I couldn't be there physically. In these stressful times I often think back to our Sunday brunches at the Pioneer, and J&S cafeteria and the wonderful memories we made there. Sadly, I wasn't able to spend as much time with him as I would have like to. I was excluded from many family get together for reasons unbeknownst to me , whatever I've done to cause discomfort between the family please forgive, I know that God and Daddy have already forgave me.   I will always love you Daddy and we all will be together in heaven. Love you!

I remember the first time I met Jordan’s Grandaddy about 10 years ago when I came to Highpoint for the first time to met Jordan’s family.  I instantly knew from his kind smile and firm handshake that this man was what Grandaddy's were supposed to be.  I remember Shaking his hand for the first time and thought to myself “where the heck did my hand go?”  Grandaddy had the biggest hands I had ever seen in my life and I could tell that he had been a hard worker.  I will miss Grandaddy, he was always so kind and welcoming to me from day one.  I imagine him now in heaven with Uncle Kenneth looking down on my two sons while laughing and enjoying the show.

Grandaddy was the best man. He loved us so much and we loved him too. He loved watching June run all over his home getting into his golf ball collection, riding around on his walker,  and messing up his tv. One day, I was on the phone with his cable company for an hour trying to get his tv back normal because June somehow figured out how to reset his entire system. He didnt even get mad though. He thought it was funny and was just glad we were there. We would sit and watch "Let's Make a Deal" and "The Price is Right" all the time. I even got him to watch a soap opera with me some days and his reactions were hilarious. 

My mom, Tyler, June, and myself  spent a week with him at the beach last September and it was so nice being able to just hang out with him. He told me 
all about how him and my grandmother would go flounder giggin. I'm so glad we spent the time together that we did.

When Tyler and I would come home from our annual beach trip, we would bring fresh shrimp back and cook it for Grandaddy. He absolutely loved it and we wish we could have done it more often. 

We also wish would could make even more memories with him, but we know hes in a better place. We love you, Grandaddy and we will miss you always.

I have many memories with my Grandaddy but the ones I’ll cherish most are the afternoons spent watching Wicked Tuna and talking about life. I loved hearing him tell me all about those big fish on what was one of his favorite TV shows. We would sit and watch TV and just talk about any and everything while my son played with his golf balls and back scratcher. I learned many life lessons from my Grandaddy. The most valuable one is to let children be children. If anything gets messed up or damaged, it will be a memory.  I will miss him so much. I will miss his hugs, his smile, and his pinto beans and corn bread!

I’ll never forget the first time he told me I was a good woman. He told me this many times over the years, especially after sending him a home cooked meal. He always made me feel part of HIS family. I will miss him.

15 years ago I was going to get my license. Granddaddy let me borrow his car. He was standing in his driveway and I hopped in the drivers seat and mama got in the passengers seat. I put it in reverse and pushed down with my foot and I couldn’t find the pedals. Next thing I know me and mama went flying backwards down the driveway into the street. The look on my granddaddy’s face I will never forget 😂 I know he was thinking Lord why did I let courtney get in my car. Somehow his floor mat had gotten folded up over the pedals which is why I couldn’t find them. I looked at him and said it’s ok I found the pedals! He just said well ok and smiled that contagious smile. He will be truly missed. I love you forever granddaddy ❤️

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always. 

My prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. Gaynes. May the blessings of God hold you close.  You have not lost a love one, God has gained an angel.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensboro

Mr. Kirk will lie-in-state at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro from 3:00 until 5:00 pm on Friday, December 11, 2020 and from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm prior to the graveside service on Saturday, December 12, 2020
