

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at Westover Church with Rev. Bob Voorhees, Paul B. Troxler and Rev. Eddie White officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens with full military honors.
Paul was born on April 21, 1920 in the Alamance Church Community in Greensboro, NC, to Porter C. and Mamie L. Coble Troxler. He graduated from Alamance High School in 1937 and served in the US Army during the 2nd World War in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands from 1942-1946. Paul attended Lees McRae College, Banner Elk, NC in 1947-1948. He was married to the former Virginia Brooks of Dresden, Tennessee for 62 years. Paul retired from the US Postal Service with 30 year’s service. After retirement, he worked part time for JM Nursery, Woody Prichard Builders and at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home for 13 years.
Paul was a member of Westover Church and though not a charter member, he was there at its beginning. He served as Sunday school superintendent, song leader, Deacon, Elder, and Sunday school teacher. He also sang in the choir for many years and was active in a men’s quartet. He was known to all the children there as “Mr. Paul” and could be seen welcoming them each Sunday with a “gimme five”. He taught the 4 year old classes for 28 years. He was a great supporter of world missions through Westover Church and was a prayer warrior for missionaries.
Paul was a Godly man, husband and father. He was loving and caring of all. Paul was faithful to his God, his family, his church and his country.
He was predeceased by his wife Virginia, parents, sisters, Pearle Wyrick, Florine Kivett, Esta Wyrick and brothers, Garland and Hoyle Troxler.
Surviving are his daughter, Jan Baynes and husband Phillip of Greensboro, son, Paul B. Troxler and wife Jan of Berlin, Germany; grandchildren, Rachel E. Cheatum and husband Drew, Kevin P. Baynes and wife Brittany, Leah E. Schirrmann and husband Frank, Katie M. Knaus and husband Stas, Josef and Michael Troxler; great grandchildren, Nycholas K. Baynes, Mason A. Cheatum, Nyah M. Baynes, Nataley R. Baynes, Emma Schirrmann and Lina J. Knaus.
He is also survived by his sisters, Paige T. Thompson and Doris T. Echerd; sister in law, Aileen R. Troxler and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 12, 2014 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel.
