Herbert Bennett Alley

Herbert Bennett Alley, 89, a resident of Browns Summit, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was born June 15, 1934, in Rockingham County, the son of Robert Alley, Sr. and Minnie Frances Lester Alley.

He was married for 63 years to Shirley Lou Williford Alley. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Maurine Alley and brothers, Reverend J.C. Alley, Leroy Stuart Alley, and Robert Alley, Jr.

Herbert served in the US Army and worked for 45 years with Cone Mills Corporation, where he was a doffer. He was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Alley of Browns Summit, his daughter Lisa Alley of Browns Summit, and his sister Louise Alley Case of Greensboro. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews to cherish his legacy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Eller Memorial Baptist Church in Greensboro. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 1 to 1:45 prior to the service. Interment will follow in Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
