Herbie was preceded in death by his father, Howard Nelson Lane Sr. and his mother, Warlena Bryant Lane.
He is survived by his wife, Christina Vernon of Greensboro; three sons, Gavin Lane, Christopher Chisolm and Matthew Vernon, two daughters, Brianna Lane and Zoe Lane, and six grandchildren. Herbie is also survived by three sisters, Antoinette Bryant of High Point, Andrea Watkins (Tony) and Virginia (Jerry) McCain and his brother Howard Lane III (Sonya) of Maryland, 2 brothers-in-law, Timothy (Erica) Vernon and Joshua (Savannah) Jacobs and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Herbie will take place on Friday, September 22 at Love & Faith Christian Fellowship with a visitation at 10:30 a.m. and the service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
Herbie’s passion was cooking and he was devoted to his family and to helping those in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
