loving family and the staff on March 2nd 2022.
Hilda was born on December 8th, 1926 in Highpoint to Bertha and Charlie Coltrane. She was
the second oldest to five siblings. She married the love of her life, Roland Thompson, in 1945
who preceded her in death on December 25th, 1976. Together they had four children.
Hilda retired from Rexam Corporations after spending 30 years there and devoted her time
afterwards to help raise her granddaughter Taylor and great grandson Nate. She was an avid
bowler in her youth and spent all of her free time working in her yard and gossiping with her
sidekick Barbara. Hilda loved her vacations at the beach each year and her family loved making
memories with her that will be shared for generations to come. She was not only a loving
mother and grandmother, but an amazing friend and neighbor to many and never met a
stranger.
Ms. Thompson is survived by her four children, Chuck (Beth) Sherlene (Mark) Kathy (Steve) and
Rhonda and her grandchildren Jeff, Amy, Jarred, Daryl, Heather and her “Tator Bug” Taylor as
well as 9 great grandchildren. Her loving family will always remember her as a bright and
spunky lady who always saw the beauty in life. She not only always had a smile on her face, but
made sure everyone she talked to was left smiling too.
A visitation will be held at Hanes Lineberry North Elm on 3/8/22 from 12 to 1:30 and will be
followed by a graveside service at Westminster Gardens Cemetery at 2:00.
The family would love to thank Beacon Place for not only caring for Hilda during this time, but
being a support for her family. There will never be another Hilda K. Thompson and her family will
miss her dearly but they know she is home safe with the Lord.
