Following high school graduation Jack entered the US Army and served as a Battalion Radio Chief in the Panama Canal Zone. He attended Kent State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with Honors and then completed all MBA course work while teaching “Introduction to Business” as a graduate assistant.
He was the youngest Assistant Treasurer ever to be hired for that position with the BF Goodrich Company in Akron, Ohio prior to moving to South Florida where he lived and worked, married and had a family. He spent the majority of his career in financial management at Republic Mortgage Investors and the Lennar Corporation in Miami and West Palm Beach, Florida.
He is survived by Maryann, his wife of 52 years, has two living sons, Kirk and David Kingsmill, one deceased son, Kevin Kingsmill, one living daughter, Karen Kingsmill and 9 grandchildren.
Jack worked as a dance instructor for the Arthur Murray Dance Studios while an undergraduate at Kent State to help pay for his education and he and his wife loved to dance throughout their marriage. He was also very active in church, serving as a Finance Deacon, Rector for Men’s Cursillo and spent many years ministering to prisoners in a maximum security prison. His faith and trust in the Lord always remained a source of strength throughout his life.
Jack also was a strong and competitive doubles and singles tennis player and played college basketball. He dearly loved all the cats and dogs who have made their home with us. Jack was a strong believer in adopting rescue dogs and didn’t like to leave any at home alone for long periods of time!
Jack was afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease and spent the last three years under the wonderful care of the nursing team at River Landing Nursing Home. We are extremely grateful for their compassionate and supportive care. Jack recognized his wife until he peacefully passed away in his sleep.
Private funeral services will be held at the VA Cemetery in Salisbury. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to one of the following: Animal Rescue & Foster Program or River Landing at Sandy Ridge.
1 Corinthians 15:54,55,57: When this which is corruptible clothes itself with incorruptibility and this which is mortal clothes itself with immortality, then the word that is written shall come about: Death is swallowed up in victory……….Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
