He served in the US Army in the EOD Unit and during Vietnam. On a blind date, Jim met the love of his life, Mary Jo Howard and celebrated forty six wonderful years together. Jim also enjoyed gardening and reading. His canine companion, Tripp and Jim’s pipe were always nearby.

Gowan, III (Kerry) of Kernersville and Kimberly Merritt (Craig) of Wallburg; grandchildren, Garrett and Tucker Gowan and Alex Merritt; father, James F.
