GREENSBORO On Friday, October 26, 2018, Dr. James (Jim) Douglas Kindl, of Greensboro, NC died at the age of 65 with his wife, Vickie, by his side after a long, hard battle with a rare cerebral vascular condition.
Jim was born November 19, 1952, in New London, CT to Herbert James and Louise Kindl. Jim attended the University of Vermont where he completed his undergraduate degree and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1979, he completed his degree in medicine from the University of Vermont. Following his graduation Jim moved to Greensboro, NC where he began his residency in Family Practice at Moses Cone Hospital. Upon completing his residency, he worked in the Emergency Room at Wesley Long Hospital. He later went into private practice from 1988-2010. Additionally, he spent over 30 years providing medical care to the employees of Syngenta. In 2010, he left private practice and worked at Moses Cone Urgent Care. Jim dedicated over 40 years of his life to helping others.
Regretfully, in 2018, he was forced to retire due to his declining health. In his spare time, he and his wife enjoyed time together riding their horses at Flint Rock Farm, dining out, going to movies and traveling. Jim also enjoyed golfing and sailing. Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Vickie Mebane Kindl of Greensboro.
His life will be forever remembered in the lives of his children, Travis James Kindl of Marina del Rey, CA, Meredith Theresa Keating (Kyle), along with his grandson, James Wells Keating of Greensboro, NC, his parents, Herbert James Kindl and Louise Kindl of Orlando, FL, sisters, Sharon Kaplan, Cindy Conley (Pat), Melanie Kindl, Tina Kindl (Scott), his children's grandmother, Shirley Ann Poulos of Greensboro, NC, his father-in-law, Tom Mebane (Pam), along with his stepchildren, Bett Faircloth (Chad), Katie Kinney (Joe), Will Anderson (Jacklyn), and Thomas Anderson (Monica). Granddaddy Jimbo was blessed and loved by his eight step-grandchildren. And last but not least, we cannot go without mentioning their beloved Zoey, the dog Jim never wanted, yet grew to love and gave him his last kiss.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to all those that helped support Jim and Vickie through these challenging and difficult months. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the Dr. James Kindl Memorial Fund at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
