James Marvin Marley, Sr., 85, a resident of Jamestown passed away on Thursday August 6, 2015 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. Mr. Marley was born in Greensboro January 13, 1930 the son of the late Vernon and Inez Fuller Marley.
He was a graduate of Guilford High School and worked for the Greensboro City Schools until retiring. He was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Obston Marley.
Mr. Marley is survived by his son, James “Jim” Marvin Marley, Jr. and wife Kathy of Morehead City and two grandchildren, Emily Marley and Nicholas Marley.
There will be a graveside service held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery conducted by the Reverend Dr. Don Clement. Military Honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the graveside service.
