

Immediate family survivors are his loving wife, Nell Elliott Mills, his two sons, Mark and his wife Sharon, Steve and his wife Wendy; his grandson, Austin Mills; his two granddaughters, Hannah Mills and Jessica Brindle; two great grandsons, Nathaniel and Nicholas Brindle and his sister, Laura Mills Roberts and her husband Bill.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Radford Mills; his mother, Rosa Hart Mills; his brothers, Radford Mills, Jr., Claude Mills and his sister, Peggy Mills Crabtree.
He attended Proximity Jr. High School and Bessemer High School before joining the Navy where he spent four years as a medical corpsman during the Korean War. After being discharged he continued to serve in the Naval Reserve. Jimmy worked at Western Electric where he met his wife, Nell and later went to work at MBF, Inc. in the advertising department, and finally went to work for the US Postal Service where he retired after 16 years. Jimmy and his wife Nell are members of Concord Friends Meeting, where he was a past Elder and Sunday School Teacher.
Jimmy’s favorite past time was playing golf with his friends and brother-in-laws and spending time with family. Life and God has been good to Jimmy. “He has had his day in sun.”
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Greg Creed. Entombment will follow in the Guilford Memorial Park Tower Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
