Jim was born March 25, 1944, in Ellerbe, North Carolina to Maxine Murchison Blake and Charles Edward Blake, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death, as did his beloved brother, Charles Edward Blake, Jr.
Jim’s personality was such that few who met him would ever forget him. Gregarious, clever, quick on the uptake, he could make you laugh in spite of yourself. Despite suffering through a long illness, he never once lost his sense of humor. He was a generous, caring person with a heart as big as the world.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Fuller Blake. Jim and Pat were deeply devoted to one another. They would have celebrated their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary in February.
Jim’s greatest joy and pride were his children: sons, Christopher Blake and wife, Dena; Anthony Blake and wife, Kathy, all of Kernersville; daughter, Sharon Blake Garner and husband, Scott, of Denton; and stepdaughter, Shannon Kimball of the home. He was blessed with five granddaughters: Ryenne, Gracen, Caroline, Jenna and Riley; two grandsons, Nolan and Avery; step-granddaughter, Caroline Maragni, and step-grandson, Christopher Kohut.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Ms. Carol Stolwyk and Ms. Beth Mills of Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, as well as Dr. and Mrs. Alexander Fortune and Dr. Steven Fry, all of whom guided Jim and his family through this journey.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405; to Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 West Lee Street, Greensboro, NC 27406; or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
