Born October 9, 1952, in Richmond, VA, to Georgia Wright Morris and the late Burgess Joe Morris, Joe was of the Christian faith. He retired after 31 years with the Guilford County Emergency Services, spending about half of that time as a paramedic and the remainder as a 911 communications operator. He served with distinction in both positions. He saved many lives and assisted in emergency situations where his calm and control characteristics were always evident. At the time of his death, he was employed at NC Baptist Hospital as an emergency communications operator. He was a graduate of Louisburg College and was a member of the first paramedic class in the state. Joe was an avid reader who always carried a book along wherever he went. He was a lover of his nation and national politics. He always saw the humor in life and was an expert at making everyone smile. He always put his family first and he will forever be in their hearts.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 18 years, Reba Morris; mother, Georgia Morris; sister, Mira Grubb and her husband Kim; brother, Jeff Morris and his wife Brenda; children, Jennifer Ingold and her husband Brian, Whitney Scarlett and her husband Mike; step-children, James Barbery and his wife Amy, Christina Hanger and her husband David; grandchildren, Max Ingold, Caden Scarlett, Rhen Scarlett, and Hailey Hanger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
