Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel.
Mr. McCoy was a member of First Lutheran Church. He was retired from the Greensboro News and Record with 40 years of service. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved dogs. Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Barger McCoy.
Mr. McCoy is survived by his daughter, Marsha McCoy Newman and husband, Dennis, sister, Bettie McCoy Hemphill, and grandson, Zachary L. Melton all of Greensboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Support Fund of the Regional Cancer Center, 1200 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27401.
