A Celebration of Life will be held on July 31st at Charity Baptist Church in Greensboro, with a visitation prior to the service starting at 11 AM. The message will begin at 11:30 AM and end at 12 PM with light refreshments to follow.
John was born on October 9th, 1942, in Wayne County North Carolina to Edward and Margaret Gray Newsome. He only completed some high school, before having to drop out after his father’s death to help his mother.
John attended Charity Baptist Church for 10 years. He worked for Krispy Kreme for 35 years where he received several awards during his time there, including being inducted into the President’s Club, earning his Green Jacket.
In addition to his mother and father, John was preceded in death by his two brothers, Monroe Newsome and Billy Newsome.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Marilyn Newsome; three sons John Newsome Jr, Adam Newsome (Dani Newsome), Edward Newsome (Tammy Newsome); two daughters, Sheila Creech (Robert Creech), Ann Lacy (Herb Lacy); a grandson, Grayson Newsome, and a granddaughter, Taelynn Newsome.
