

A Cryptside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. Reverend Phyllis Coates of St. John’s United Methodist Church will be officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until service time at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel.
Joe was born in Guilford County on January 8, 1936, to John Ervin Watson, Sr. and Myrtle Hudson Watson, who predeceased him. He is also predeceased by his brothers, John Ervin Watson, Jr. of Greensboro and David Walter Watson of Mayodan, and his grandson, Ronny Coble, Jr. of Lexington, SC.
Joe is survived by his wife of 36 years, Helen Ellis Watson. He is also survived by his son, Samuel Watson (Amy) of Archdale, daughters, Beverly Varner of Greensboro, and Lynda Coble (Ronny) of Lexington, SC, his brother, Calvin Drewery (Pat) of Greensboro, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his step-children Jeryl Ellis (Jean) of Archdale, Patricia Fitzgerald (Dan) of Huntersville, Janice Freeman (Bryan) of Greensboro, Shirley Ellis of Ft Lauderdale, FL, five step grandchildren, and eight step great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1304 Merritt Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407, of which he was a member.
