Judy, Steve, Chris, Sarah, Kevin and Mason, as I read these tributes to Katelyn, I only wish I had known her as others did. I certainly know the wonderful parents she had, as Judy is a life long friend of mine, from childhood into adulthood, and Steve, from his early days of dating my friend, and their marriage. I know the kind of home and family Katelyn grew up in. I met her in NYC at the Breast Cancer Walk, several years ago. She was so sweet and so happy to meet friends of her parents from so many years ago, 
I watched her grow up in photos that Judy shared, and the stories that Judy relayed. 
Now, I hear from others who truly knew Katelyn, what a wonderful and inspirational young woman she was. 
Judy, Steve , Chris, Sarah and Kevin, and little Mason, I have no words to console you. I know grief first hand, and I know people mean well, but can Not fully understand the feelings you have right now. But, I want you to know, that you are in my thoughts, my heart and my prayers. You had an angel here in Earth. And she got her wings to fly. You were all blessed to know and love her. It is not fair. Until you all meet and embrace again! Rest In Peace, sweet Katelyn.♥️ 

Katelyn was such a bright light  that will never dim as her memory will be alive always.  An angel on earth is now in heaven watching out over all of us, so we better behave. She had so many talents, and her heart was so big along with her unique sense of humor and determination and fight like I have never seen before wrapped up in such a little person. Steve and Judy, you raised such a remarkable woman. My heart is with you and your family as you navigate life without her by your side here on earth. Katelyn was such a loving and generous person, but tough as nails when it came to her fight against cancer. In all our conversations I never heard her ever complain. She was always upbeat and looking forward. She always had drive and tenacity as evidenced by the completion of her MBA  only a month ago.
 I will always remember our conversations about coaching girls basketball.  She would always asked how my granddaughter was doing as their teams played every year and we usually lost.
Even though she was on this earth a short time, she left a great legacy and has stored up many treasures in heaven.
Steve and Judy, you raised an awesome and extraordinary daughter and I feel fortunate to have known her. I am so sorry for your loss. Sandy and I will continue to pray for you and your family during this time.

Katelyn is definitely special - such a great person, friend and employee.  Her toughness and determination blended with her sense of humor and caring personality was a treat. 

Katelyn was a gift to me and my family - while she was battling her own cancer, she provided me and my family support when my 18 year old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia in 2016.  Katelyn and I grew closer because we often talked about cancer treatments and the uncontrollable things in life that are not always easy to discuss with others.  We also talked about a lot of fun things and laughed a lot, which I will miss.

Katelyn was so caring and brave and she was a great friend.  She always asked how my daughter was doing even during our last text exchange a few weeks ago.  My daughter is healthy and doing well because of the many prayers we received and it is hard to accept that Katelyn was not as fortunate.  God surely has a plan for Katelyn and I know she will continue to have a positive impact on those she has touched.

My family and I will continue to appreciate Katelyn and we pray for her family and friends who also loved her so much.

My boys were at Saint Pius in the late 90’s, and knew Kaitlyn from basketball Camp. I still have friends in the Saint Pius community and I also know the pain of being a bereaved parent. I am so deeply sorry. I remember Kaitlyn as having a loving, joyful spirit that touched the lives of many, even as a young girl. I hope her legacy will be some small comfort as you move through your grief. My sincerest sympathy. 

I enjoyed coaching against Katelyn and then developed a bond over our JMU alumni connection!  She will be missed and you all will be in my prayers!

Words cannot express how deeply saddened I was to hear of the loss of your wonderful daughter and sister. I thought the world of Katelyn and will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. 

I first met Katelyn as a student at St. Pius   when I was hired as the school counselor in 2000. She later became an awesome assistant to the summer camp program and eventually to me in the camp office. She was a savior in helping me create Excel spreadsheets at the time and always went above and beyond all expectations in whatever she did. 

More recently, I was able to chat and spend time with her at the school in a different capacity - as a friend, school parent, and basketball mom. She would always take time to chat and check in - whether it was at a basketball camp or workout, awards ceremony, or out somewhere in town. She would sit with me during the JV Boys Basketball games to cheer on the team. She was so good to give my son, Vince, pep talks and advice on how to improve his game. You just knew she truly cared and wanted the best for everyone. 

Katelyn would text me at times for advice on repairs on her house or car, or to ask me to video and take pictures of sports ceremonies. I was always so relieved to see her at track meets when we were short handed. She was able to do pretty much anything and do it well. She made things happen.  

I will truly miss seeing her whenever I am at the gym. I will miss her beautiful smile and her wonderful sense of humor. I will miss her helping Kristin keep up with her keys and phone while she is being pulled in several different directions. I will miss hanging out with her at Shamrock. Being in the gym will never be the same. 

Although her life was cut way too short, I hope you will find comfort and peace knowing that she made such a powerful impact on the lives of so many in a most positive way.  She was an inspiration to everyone and will definitely be missed. ❤️

Oh how you will be missed. I have a ton of memories from my time in Greensboro with you.  You were such a welcoming friend! From Friendsgivings, and Mccouls, to hiking and camping over the weekends. I have memories of Dixie and Thirsty Thursdays with you.  We always had a great time together.  I remember swimming at your parents house and coming over to your families Christmas party! I never told you this, but remember the "box of sunshine" someone left at your door after you first got your diagnosis? That was from me.  You were such a ray of sunshine in so many peoples lives, you will never be forgotten dear friend.  Rest in Peace.

Katelyn was such a special person and made an impact in the lives of so many people.  I first met her playing against each other when I was at St. Leo's and she was at St.Pius.
