Laura White Wolfe, 89, went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2019. She was born in Greensboro and lived her entire life here. She was a graduate of Woman’s College (now UNCG) with a degree in fine arts. The highlight of her time there was being chosen as May Queen and being crowned by her husband, James B. Wolfe, Jr.
Laura was a charter member of Starmount Presbyterian Church where she was active for many years. She was a talented artist with numerous recipients of her beautiful watercolors. She also enjoyed the relationships she developed with her Young Life Campaigners. Her family was her pride and joy and she especially loved creating memories with them at her beach home at Ocean Isle Beach and her peaceful retreat at Misty Meadows, in the mountains of Virginia.
Laura was born on February 27, 1929, the daughter of the late Paul Linwood White and Ada Bell White. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Judge James B. Wolfe, Jr. Her sister Ruth White of Asheville also preceded her in death.
Laura is survived by her four children: Kathryn Wolfe Morgan (Larry), Betty Wolfe Bailey (the late Jim), Jim Wolfe (Alice), and Bill Wolfe (Pam). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Ryan Morgan (Shana), Lindsay Morgan Boyette (Justin), Sarah Morgan, Laura Bailey Thornton (Ted), Liz Bailey Ham (Matt), Ruffin Bailey, James Wolfe (Alli), Charlotte Wolfe Ablott (Eric), Alex Wolfe, Will Wolfe (Bekah), Emma Wolfe, Natalie Wolfe Hollenback (Joe), Michaela Wolfe Montgomery (David), and 21 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way) Survivors also include her sister, Polly Dodson (Roger) and brother Dick White (Dean).
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00, Saturday, February 9, at Green Hill Cemetery with a Celebration Of Life to follow at Starmount Presbyterian Church from 2:00 – 3:30.
