

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Larry will be laid to rest beside his wife in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery, immediately following the funeral services. The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the funeral, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home.
Born in Guilford County on August 17, 1928, the youngest of five children, to the late Lawrence Lee Stamper, Sr. and Gertrude Karriker Stamper, Larry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of McLeansville, NC for over 50 years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army and was a Lineman for Duke Power for 38 years. He married the love of his life, Nancy Lucille Mahaley Stamper on December 11, 1954, who he cherished everyday of life, even after her passing. Larry enjoyed fishing, bowling in his church league, and gardening. He was well known for his juicy tomatoes and sold many pounds of them. His neighbors referred to him as the “Tomato Man”. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Stamper.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Steve Stamper (Carla); grandson, Sean Stamper; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
