Leonard was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Paula Stewart Loy and his son Richard N. Loy.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews; and his sister-in-law, Ann Wright and her husband Rev. Tom Wright of Danville, VA.
Leonard was a Navy veteran of WWII having served as a radioman on submarines. Prior to moving to Palm Beach Fl., he was President of Burlington Business College. In Palm Beach, he was the county budget director until he retired.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Gibsonville United Methodist Church, 501 Church St., Gibsonville, NC.
