Leonardo Cecilio Pedraza, 66, of Summerfield passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Rhonda M. Pedraza for 35 years. He was born on November 22, 1956, in Santa Clara, Cuba to Rodolfo Tiburcio Pedraza and Angela Mildred Torres.
Amongst his many achievements, Leo was a skilled aviator who served for 34 years as a Captain at Continental and United Airlines, a man who never met a stranger, a devout practitioner of the Lord’s Golden Rule, but most importantly, a loyal friend and dedicated father and husband.
Leo is preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo and mother, Angela, in-laws Marvin and Clemma, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles, and grandson Lee.
Leo is survived by his wife, Rhonda; four sons, Carlos (Anna), Rudy (Megan), Tomas (Katelyn) and Joseph Pedraza; granddaughter Elena; sister, Isabel (Robert); brothers, José and Carlos, nieces and nephews, Margie, Robert Jr., Jenifer, Alex, Allen, Mark, Carly and numerous great nieces and nephews; in-laws Cindy (Todd), Bob, John (Helen), and numerous cousins.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of The Piedmont, especially Mandi, whose strength and compassion provided a bright light during a trying time.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 18, 2023 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the Mass in the Simmons Center for a reception. Interment will follow the reception at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 2 pm.
