Leslie Fort Floyd, 44, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Duke Medical Hospital in Durham, NC. Leslie was born on August 24, 1980, in Winston-Salem, NC, the daughter of Henry M. and Brenda M. Fort, Jr. She was formerly employed at the Guilford County Probation Office in Greensboro as a probation officer. She left this position in 2022 after moving to Pittsboro, NC. Leslie graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. In 2020, she returned to community college to pursue an associate’s degree in computer programming, which she achieved in 2022.
Leslie touched the lives of many throughout her life. She was caring, thoughtful, and honest with those she encountered. She held high expectations for both, herself and others. Leslie didn’t just talk the talk—she walked the walk. She was a wonderful daughter and sister for her 44 years of life, as well as a loving and devoted wife and mother, to her husband, Trey, and their three children, Kaden, Sophia, and Chloe.
Leslie was determined to win her battle with breast cancer. Despite her courageous fight over four years, filled with many complications, her body eventually grew weary. Yet, she never gave up hope. Her strength and positive attitude were an inspiration to all who knew her.
We are deeply grateful for the time we had with our precious Leslie. Our hearts ache at her absence, but she will forever remain in our thoughts, prayers, and hearts. We pray that Leslie is now at peace in the arms of our Lord and reunited with her father and sister.
Leslie was preceded in death by her father, Henry Mills Fort, Jr., and her sister, Melissa Fort Buchelli.
She is survived by her mother, Brenda Martin Fort; her sister, Megan Fort Barrow and husband, John Barrow; her husband, Paul Edward Floyd; and her children, Kaden Henry Floyd, Sophia Elizabeth Huber, and Chloe Alexis Williams and husband Joshua Hunter Williams. She is also survived by her grandson, Reed Michael Williams, born on March 25, 2025; nieces, Elena Blanche Buchelli and Lily Grace Barrow, and Hazel Santos Floyd; and nephews, Devin Sheppard Oliver, Efren Alexander Buchelli, and Tyson Mills Barrow, Ezra Santos Floyd, Silas Santos Floyd.
A Celebration of Leslie’s life will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with Pastor, Dr. Michael Yandell, officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
