
At the age of 95, an Angel on earth, Mrs. Lillian Edwards Saunders, got her wings and flew into the arms of her loving Lord, from her home, surrounded by her loving children, Wednesday, August 18, 2010.
Funeral services, celebrating her home going, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday morning, August 21, 2010, at Burnett’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Charles Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born November 20, 1914, in Guilford County, to the late Etta Lou and Lenzy Edwards, Mrs. Saunders was a long standing member of Burnetts Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Circle and the Adult Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Missionary Society, The Community Ladies Group, and volunteered as a Hairdresser’s assistant at Nursing Homes. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, but loved nothing more than spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Argie Saunders; baby daughter, Linda Saunders; a son Larry Saunders; sister, Annie Holt; and brothers, Ivy Edwards, Eugene Edwards, Ernest Edwards, and Clyde Edwards.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carolyn Holt and husband Larry of Wilson, NC; sons, Jerry Saunders and wife Carol and Bobby Saunders and wife Brenda, all of Greensboro; daughter-in-law, Sunny Saunders of Greensboro; grandchildren, Alan Saunders, Randy Saunders, Mark Saunders, Kristie Campbell and husband Stephen, Brett Saunders, Julie Fields and husband Grady, Brian Saunders, Daniel Holt, and Nathan Saunders; great-grandchildren, Marissa, Isabelle, Alex, and Kavon; and special friends, Cheryl, Kolbie, and Crystal.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Friday, August 20, 2010 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel and other times at Mrs. Saunders home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care at Greensboro 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
