Margaret Shelton Shelton Creed

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Born in Greensboro, May 19, 1918, to the late Jesse and Maude Shelton, Ms. Creed was a member of Magnolia St. Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She retired from Rose’s Department Store as the Office Manager at Golden Gate. After her retirement, she continued to work. She worked as a Hostess at Red Lobster on Church St., later,she worked part-time in the deli and flower departments at Harris Teeter at Golden Gate and then Wine Dixie on Lawndale. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and needle crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Claude James Creed; her brother, James Shelton; and her sisters, Lucille Shelton and Hazel S. Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Shelba C. Hatley and her husband Larry H., and Mitzi C. Carpenter and her husband Jackie D. Whitt, all of Greensboro; grandchildren, Mark H. Hatley and her wife Pam of Mooresville, NC, Allison H. Harris and her husband Kirk of Washington, NC, Mia Hatley of Greensboro; Erik Carpenter of Charlotte, Christa C. McClellan and her husband Roy of Julian, great-grandchildren, Ben Hatley, Chris Hatley, Luke Harris, Sidney Harris, and Cailey McClellan.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:45 pm, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
