Mrs. Margaret Lovdia "Lovie" McFarland McFarland McNeil

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday September 19, 2012 at Friends Home West, just inside the main entrance, at 6100 West Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Lovie was born on March 22, 1918, to the late Neil Graham McFarland and Mary Harrington McFarland of Broadway, NC. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. “Lovie” came from a large, loving family of five sisters and three brothers, Lizabel Harrington, Ruth McNeil, Mattie Yoder, Liza Pascal, Nanny Lou Dalrymple, Perry McFarland, Jim McFarland and Mike McFarland. She married William Murdock McNeil and they made their home in Greensboro. They had one wonderful son, Larry William McNeil. Larry married Karen Russell and they had three children and one grandchild. “Lovie’s” husband and son passed away, but she was surrounded by her church family from The Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, her family, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandson. They brought her great joy.

“Lovie” with her beautiful smile was very fortunate to have lived 94 healthy years and watch her grandchildren grow into accomplished adults. She gave them the greatest gift, unconditional love.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen Russell McNeil; grandson, William Creighton McNeil and his fiancée, Brittney Kawelo; granddaughter, Caroline McNeil Smith and her husband Aaron Brandon Smith of Charlotte, NC; grandson, Graham Cummings McNeil of Raleigh, NC; great-grandson, McNeil Marshall Smith; sisters, Eliza Pascal and Nanny Lou Dalrymple and her husband Bob; and nieces and nephews, Janet Harrington, Bonnie Thomas, Bobbie Garrett, Vickie Dickens, Mary Jon Monroe, Robbie Ballard, Mac Harrington, Ronnie Thomas, Jeff Yoder, David McFarland, and Tommy Dalrymple.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Childrens’ Home Society, P.O. Box 14608, Greensboro, NC 27415.
